Questions before class.

What do you cover in the drink building class?

Making sauces and syrups that last, and the science behind why they do. Ratios and how to balance a drink. Cold foams. A short espresso lesson so every drink starts with a proper shot.

Do I need to know espresso before taking the drink building class?

Not much. We give a basic espresso lesson when the drink building begins, and an espresso cheat sheet goes home with you.

What's the difference between the two classes, and which should I take first?

Take whichever one you're more drawn to. If you want a recommendation, Espresso Foundations first, so every drink you build later has a proper espresso underneath it. Completely optional though.

Can I make these drinks at home without an espresso machine?

Yes. The sauces and syrups work in any drink. To get close to the espresso version, use a strong, concentrated brew, or just add them to regular drip coffee. We encourage experimenting.

Can I take the class if I'm dairy-free?

Yes. We stock whole and oat milk. If you have other dietary restrictions, let us know ahead of class and we'll have an alternative milk that works for you.

Do I need any experience to take a barista class?

No. We take students of all levels.

What do you cover in the espresso class?

Dialing in: dose, grind and time. Pulling shots and tasting the difference. Milk steaming and the fundamentals of latte art. Puck prep. You leave with a written recipe you can take to any machine, plus a 12oz bag of coffee.

Do you teach latte art?

Yes, the high-level fundamentals: steaming milk to the right texture, the pour, and a basic heart. A dedicated latte art class is in the works for a future date.

How big are the classes and where are they?

Eight people maximum per class, so everyone gets time on the machine. Classes run at the Coffeehaus Roastery, 2220 Gratiot Ave in Detroit, on Saturday mornings. Whole and oat milk are provided.

Can we book a private class for a group?

Yes. Birthdays, team outings, or something fun to do with a small group. Minimum of four people, on select dates. Email support@coffeeha.us with a headcount and a few dates.

What if I can't make my class?

Email support@coffeeha.us at least 48 hours before your class to reschedule or get a refund. With less than 48 hours' notice, we'll do our best to move you to a future session.

Can I gift a class?

Yes. Book a seat in the recipient's name and email support@coffeeha.us to say it's a gift. We'll send them a note, and if the date doesn't work for them we'll move them to another session.
